When photographing busy executives is best to have a game plan that allows you capture a variety of dynamic corporate portraits in a short amount of time. For this photo shoot the lobby of the Rutgers Business School was an ideal location. Gary Cohen, who is donating a million dollars to the school, walked into the lobby and 15 minutes later we were done and he was on his way to his next meeting.
Portrait of a Rutgers graduate for a full page magazine ad. While there were multiple locations and wardrobe changes the photo in the casual red short on Voorhees Mall was the final choice.
Each issue of the Rutgers alumni magazine features a full page portrait of a school graduate. While the photo is shot on location it must feature a simple background since the photo runs full bleed across the page type is placed somewhere within the photo.
We needed to include a hint of the dorm building where the subject lived in the photo. I was able to find a location where the leading lines of the sidewalk intersected and there was a nice backlight that helped separate him from the background. Add a Profoto B1 with a stripbank and we were all set.
I recently had the opportunity to photograph a series of portraits for a Fordham University fundraising campaign. We photographed a number of students and alumni. This photo session took place on campus and in the nearby Columbus Circle and Central Park.
While the school highlighted a variety of people in the marketing campaign we tried to make each portrait look similar by using shallow depth of field and using a narrow stripbox for lighting.
The folks at St. Peter's University wanted to show the new fan zone and all the action at basketball games for their alumni magazine. The scene was very high energy with life-long fans and alumni mixing with current students. Also, it didn't hurt that the Peacocks had a great season.
Over the past year I've had the pleasure of helping Rutgers Honors College update their website. One of the main goals was a large group photo of the whole staff. Luckily the new Honors College building is gorgeous and we found a great spot for the photo.
Commencements are always fun to photograph, lots of emotion as people walk away with a college degree. This photo was after a winter commencement ceremony for Union County College. Using a fast lens allowed me to shoot available light, capturing the color of a nighttime street scene. You can see more New Jersey higher education marketing photography on my website.
You know the saying - "early to bed, early to rise....". Well getting up before dawn sure paid off for this photo shoot with Kerri Gallagher, a 2011 Fordham graduate, at Jacob Riis Park in New York City. One of the photos was displayed very nicely on the Fordham University website. You can read the story here.
Nice design on Seton Hall University School of Law website. It was great working with them to produce new photos for the site. This class involved professional actors who helped the law students practice interaction with clients. Very interesting stuff!
