The Harriet Tubman School in Newark held celebrated the first black player in Major League Baseball during Jackie Robinson Day.
Among the notables who attended was Robinson’s wife Rachel.
As one politician after another came to the microphone to speak, I kept my eye on a group of first graders wearing Brooklyn Dodgers hats.
As they squirmed around, like first graders do, all the hats lined up for a brief moment. And I had a cute photo.
