His actions on January 23, 1945 sound like a Hollywood movie, except the bullets and the danger…  Adam LiVecchi was on a missionary trip to Haiti when the massive earthquake rocked the country. The room where he was sleeping was destroyed but he was uninjured. Through the kindness of a stranger he managed to get on a plane back to the United States.  The Harriet Tubman School in Newark held celebrated the first black player in Major League Baseball during Jackie Robinson Day. Among the notables who attended was Robinson’s wife Rachel.
