Communication is one of the most important aspects of successful portrait photography.
When I’m shooting a portrait for the Star-Ledger I try to describe to the subject exactly the look I’m trying to achieve.
Making them a partner in the shoot helps tremendously.
Communication is even more important when somebody has hired me to shoot their portrait. Often they have specific ideas about their portrait.
Jim wanted new photos for his corporate website. Communication was very important for this photo shoot since Jim wanted his photos to have a cutting edge, moody feel.
Jim sent me links to photos that he liked so I had a good idea of what he hoped to achieve.
We both are very happy with the results.
