Troops return to New Jersey

I can’t think of a better way to spend Memorial Day than documenting the emotional return of 388 National Guard soldiers. The troops returned to Fort Dix after a year long deployment to Iraq.

It was pouring rain outside so this portrait was made using the gorgeous light from the large open doors at the entrance to a church. The very shallow depth of field of a super fast telephoto lens adds to the elegant simplicity.
