A cop’s widow fights for justice

On a rainy night in 1958 Rahway police officer Charles Bernoskie was shot and killed.

40 years later Robert Zarinsky was charged with his murder. A jury refused to convict Zarinsky and an appeal court overturned Bernoskie’s widow’s civil award.
Now Bette Bernoskie is faced with the possibility of paying back the lawsuit award to the man many people believe killed her husband.
