Phil Rizzuto past away yesterday.
Growing up as a Yankee fan in the late 70s and 80s Rizzuto was not only the voice of the Yankees but a neighbor. He lived just a mile or so from my home in Union.
My family would often see him around town. Once he even asked my brother and I to get him a straw during a visit to the McDonalds on Route 22. That was an unforgettable moment for a 12 year old Yankee fan.
